Why does it matter if it was petty or not?? Who cares about their relationship other than them? We as fans just want good television.

Reading between the lines of the blog post, it seems that the changes were for logistical reasons and not because the showrunner wanted to "make it his own". That blog post is more malicious than the intent of the changes made for the show.

I don't think readers can be expected to completely divorce the show from the books. It seems a significant part of the reason the show was made was because it had a built in fan following from the books, fans who had elements of the books that they definitely wanted to see on screen. Just as show writers can't be expected to adapt every single element from the books, fans can't be expected to just "turn off" their (often strong) connections to book plot points/characters. I do think it's more helpful when fans/show writers express their views in a civil manner.

What's "unprofessional" is bad writing. Season 2 is filled with bad writing and missed opportunities.

George didn't finish the GOT story. I don't know why people were upset at Benioff and Weiss. They are not Martin and just finished the story.

I have insight into the reason why Helaena reacted as she did when Blood & Cheese entered. I am a rape survivor. When it happened, I froze up because it was impossible to believe this was happening. Her "special abilities" also have to be taken into consideration. She stated earlier in the episode about the rats. Aegon chided her on it not knowing what she meant. Given what I said about my assault and her special abilities, she'd already seen the event so she was frozen in place. Believe me when it's happening depending on your mindset, you do not react melodramatically. It's sometimes a voiceless response as she did when she picked up Jaehaera and left, that is the voiceless response. Her brain was still playing catch up.

If this is not indication that Giorge R.R Martin and HBO relationship falling apart I don't know what is...And another indicator that even more significant changes will be made for seasons 3 and 4. So if that's true this show is done. Fans won't came back for seasons 3 and 4. No more shows will be made I am talking about Aegon Conquest cuz Knights of Seven Kingdom's season 1 is already done and it will air. Not so sure about season 2 though. I am not sure about other projects and shows they're had planned. Cuz Giorge is really pissed about show changes and even spoiled season 3 plans and one of storyline change in this blog. And HBO not happy about that and posted that they sticking with show writers and runners and they have confidence in their story and show success moving forward. My prediction for season 3. If nothing changes from this point on and they're sticking with the writers ideas and major changes this show will be tanking in ratings and season 3 will be even bigger failure than season 2 was. If they want to save the show they have to work with Giorge R.R Martin on seasons 3 and 4 period. Otherwise this show is Done...

I think G.Martin should just focus on his unfinished work on his hands. That's my concise conclusion as if it will be too boring and long in full. Also, I see things from both sides. If he wants to get involved fully, he's gotta be involved in every single step so he can be satisfied, but obviously, he can't and didn't. My background is in TV/Production / Corporate sides of things, so I sympathize with the team of creators of HBO too. They've got strict timelines to meet. which involve many actors /stars/lines of production etc. He did not get involved at the right timing where he could made correct input and thus changes to his liking, are not the production side's fault. He's talking about the butterfly effect, but think about the implication of "Having Malor" there, what would have affected the storylines of 8 episodes seasons out of 4 seasons limitation they have? If every single detail in G.Martin's book should have been picked up without failing, imagine how many seasons and episodes the production side has got to run? Ryan Condol said " 25 seasons and Bankrupting everyone" in the Podcast but I sympathize with that view. HBO is a huge business entity. and G.Marin is an "Artist".

GRRM having problems with certain aspects of season 2 is interesting to me but that baby has fallen into the bath water, so oh well....GRRM having problems with the season 3 outline worries me because to me some of the show runner writing instincts are dubious and I don't want the show to jump the dragon, pardon me for getting cute.

If you read the blog post and came away thinking “George is most upset about Maelor” (which I am seeing a lot of on social media) then you missed the whole “butterfly” point. George is clearly very concerned with the next two seasons of HotD and it’s not just because of Maelor yall.

The excuse making for Martin is too much. If he had thrown his hands in the air and said "I can't finish these," and walked away, that would be perfectly fine and understandable. The problem here is that he continues to monetize, write, consult, and wring every dollar possible out of ASoIaF without, you know, finishing ASoIaF, and that is simply not on. That is a money-grubbing middle finger to the fans. They're even now re-releasing the boxed set of ASoIaF--it's not finished, but we're getting another edition? Gimme a break.

Tolkien never finished his work or got to revise it a lot. Although his son was his biggest fan and probably knew much about what his father would have wanted. Them taking liberty with things that werent completely set in stone. is really not a problem for me. RoP is definitely overhated. but by no means a masterpiece. I dont really like the retold story of the wizard and the hobbit but just now with a harfoot. And this harfoot also has a protector like sam. Its Lazy.

The thing I'm hoping for in GRRM's upcoming blog post (about HOTD Ssn 2) is, that he voices his chagrin at David Zaslav's budget cuts that pulled the rug out from under HBO's (and technically, Zaslav's) flagship show's season finale. DC's box office collapse and Warner Bros post their 2021 day & date movie slate release scheme cratered into epic failure have to major factors in their financial woes... Those two divisions of WBD's empire were definitely swimming in red ink, but "House Of The Dragon"'s first season was an unqualified hit. Zassy's cuts undermined the second season and possibly the remaining two seasons Ryan Condal has planned for.

I love Dan but we gotta get this duo again. Great show!

This show was the best Netflix has ever made. And they had the audacity to screw it up. As if they didn't care at all about the show and its fans. Maybe that's the case. Why worry about something that seems so banal? It's just a series that was really well written. And a lot of people liked it. Netflix is Disney.😒
